Home >> Barbados >> National Heroes Currently in Barbados, there are 10 National Heroes, 9 men and 1 woman, each with their own story and history behind them. Their status were given because of their accomplishments and contributions towards the development of Barbados over the years. The National Heroes of Barbados all and came from different periods in time and helped the country in different ways. To honor all 10 National Heroes for their contributions to the island, a National Heroes Day was dedicated by former Prime Minister Owen Arthur in 1998. Nationals Heroes day is celebrated on April 28th every year.
