Barbados is alot safer than some other countries in the Caribbean and the rest of the world., however it is not a crime-free country.  While visiting the island, you should always use common sense, good judgement, and safety precautions

1. Leave your cash and valuables in the hotel's safe, or secured in your room.

2. Remember what they say, "If it sounds to good to be true..."

3. If you're sightseeing, let the hotel know your whereabouts and when you're expected to return.

4. If you're going to be staying for a week or so, maybe you could purchase a temporary cellphone.

5. Lost? Just look for the bus stops that are marked "To City", follow them and you'll find your way back to Bridgetown (the capital of Barbados) eventually.
